For Sharon

Zoe is aching all over. Her pride has long since stopped taking hits whenever Logan kicked her ass, but her body doesn't appreciate it any more, and she is getting so tired of the little extra something he puts into it, since Tombstone.

So after she takes a shower and slips into one of her usual, almost-too-short dresses, she spends three minutes getting decent alcohol out of the replicator before she heads over to Sharon's quarters. "It's Zoe, open up," she calls out from the other side of the door, and when Sharon does, Zoe walks in and sets the bottle down on the table.

"I'm so tired of Logan's patronizing attitude and I got decent alcohol out of the replicator," she states, watching her friend expectantly. "You got any plans?" Beside 'getting drunk and bitching about men with Zoe', obviously.

The idea that Zoe might be experimental hardware has never occurred to Sharon. She doesn't know quite how to respond, so she continues on in fact-finding mode.

"Who made you? I mean, you're an incredibly specific, well rounded personality -there has to be a reason for that, right?"

At first Zoe thinks Sharon is talking about her body, and she's about to answer my parents and me, but then it's clear what she means. Zoe shakes her head, frowning slightly. "I wasn't really... made. There was this real girl, Zoe. She figured out a way to create an avatar of herself. She died, and then there was only me. I am Zoe, for the most part. We think the same, we believe the same, we feel the same. But I went on living, and she didn't."
